Florida Repertory Theatre Seeks Front of House Manager

Florida Repertory Theatre (floridarep.org) is a professional theatre company serving all of Southwest Florida.  Celebrating its 28th year of award-winning regional theatre in downtown Fort Myers, we are a non-profit theatre company that produces a wide variety of musicals, comedies, and dramas such as Little Shop of Horrors, The Play That Goes Wrong, The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge and Tuesdays with Morrie.

With a budget of $5 million, a staff of 55, actors and directors from NYC, many with Broadway credits, Florida Repertory Theatre brings more than 100,000 people to the Fort Myers River District annually.  Florida Repertory Theatre performs in the 393-seat, 100-year-old, historic Arcade Theatre and the newly renovated 110 seat ArtStage Studio.  We also operate a premier educational theatre program that reaches more than 45,000 young people annually.

Front of House Manager Job Summary

We’re looking to build our already amazing team.  Be part of the fun and joy of creating live theatre.  As the Front of House Manager, you play a vital role in the box office, patron relations, and overall financial solvency of one of Southwest Florida’s premier arts organizations. 

The Front of House Manager is a key senior staff member who demonstrates a passionate commitment to making sure patrons have an enjoyable experience at the theatre. Is responsible for establishing and meeting the income goals from season tickets, individual tickets, group sales, bar, parking and rental income- all income that is fundamental for the theatre in achieving its artistic mission. The Front of House Manager implements comprehensive strategies and programs to maximize these revenue streams and achieve Florida Repertory Theatre’s earned revenue goals.

 

Along with the Assistant FoH Manager, the Front of House Manager coordinates all front of house functions for the organization, working in close alliance with Florida Repertory Theatre leadership, assembling and mentoring a box office, bar and front of house team that strongly supports the theatre’s customer service and ticket sales objectives.  A trusted leader of the box office team, the Front of House Manager needs to be a strong team player and strategic thinker with an intense work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise box office, bar, front of house, and parking staff and volunteers.  Provide training, guidance and support to maximize ticket sales and provide superior customer service to current and prospective audiences and donors. 
  • Oversee ticket sales, distribution, and will-call operations for all shows.  Primary person responsible for managing Audience View ticketing software.
  • Supervise assistant FoH manager in generating new group sales.  Act as liaison with event organizers and group leaders to establish group sales seating plans and ticket availability. 
  • Assist in the box office especially during high volume hours and work in FoH positions as needed and to cover gaps in scheduling. Step in as third bartender during busy intermissions.
  • Serve as primary facilities manager for front of house issues in both normal daily operations as well as special events.  Monitor facility maintenance, security and safety protocols to create a safe and enjoyable environment for patrons, staff and performers.
  • Manage bar and concession facilities and vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee the procurement of necessary supplies and services to ensure efficient operations and compliance with all food safety regulations. 
  • Responsible for the efficient operation and management of the parking facilities. This includes hiring and supervising parking lot attendants and volunteers, ensuring optimal utilization of parking spaces, managing attendance and on-call addressing customer concerns. 
  • Schedule volunteers.  Provide training and assistance with sign-up scheduling software.
  • Prepare and analyze box office reports, including sales data, attendance figures, revenue summaries and reconciliations of cash and credit card reports.
  • Collaborate with senior management team to implement pricing strategies, discounts and promotional offers to maximize ticket sales and revenue.  Collaborate with marketing teams to develop and execute promotional campaigns to boost ticket sales.
  • Create and implement annual box office, operations and bar budgets. 
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and security personnel to ensure the safety and security of front of house and parking areas.
  • Responsible for coordinating and soliciting donations for annual volunteer luncheon. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years hospitality, sales and customer service management experience.  Ideally, hands-on experience in theatre box office management.
  • Knowledge of ticketing/registration/donor/event software.  Tech savvy.
  • An understanding of budgeting principles
  • Experience managing staff.  And developing and maintaining productive working relationships with board members, donors, and community members
  • Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously is essential and attention to detail is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree

Hours/Compensation

40+ hours/week, including performances on evenings and weekends.
